The 4th Annual Tobago International Sea To Sea Marathon

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad: May 23, 2019: The 4th Annual Tobago International Sea to Sea Marathon took place on Saturday May 18 and Sunday May 19, on the sister isle of Tobago.

Since its inception, the event has attracted runners and visitors from Trinidad, the Caribbean, Latin and South America as well as across the World, for a full weekend of activities with the 5K and 10K races as well as the half and full marathons. The race course is certified by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Association of International Marathons (AIMS). The initiative was supported through the Bank’s Power to Make a Difference social responsibility programme with the aim of youth development through sport.

This year, Richer Perez Cobas of Cuba took home the top prize in the Full Marathon. Cobas crossed the finish line in a time of 2hours 51minutes 10seconds while Raquel Agudelo Berrio of Colombia defended her title among the ladies in a time of 3hours 12minutes 57seconds. Trinidad and Tobago’s Curtis Cox was fifth and the top Caricom male runner, while his countrywoman Sjaelan Evans was second in 3hours 35minutes 26seconds and also won the Caricom female category.

In the Half Marathon T&T’s Celine Lestrada was victorious in a time of 1hour 39minutes 52 seconds. She also took home the prize for the Top Caricom female. Didimo Sanchez of Venezuela ran home to victory among the men in a time of 1hour 10minutes 50seconds. Junior Ashton of St Vincent and the Grenadines placed third overall and also won the Caricom category.

All race finishers received a specially minted medal in addition to monetary rewards and trophies.
