Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, July 02, 2019: The Republic Bank National Primary Schools Mini Polo League ended on Sunday June 16 at the Flying Fish Swimming Pool, Port of Spain. The Mini Polo League gave approximately 75 primary school students an opportunity to practice their water polo skills in a competitive environment.

The Primary Schools Mini Polo League is part of the wider Republic Bank National School Water Polo Leagues which also includes the Republic Bank National Secondary Schools Water Polo League. This is Republic Bank’s the first year as host of the League in partnership with the Royhil Seals Water Polo Club.

Both Leagues are highly anticipated events on the local water polo calendar and have been a starting ground for many water polo players who go on to represent clubs, national teams and universities. Five primary schools participated in this year’s Mini Polo League. Over the course of seven weeks Bishop Anstey Junior School; Diamond Vale Government Primary School; Dunross Preparatory School and St. Monica's Preparatory School fought valiantly for the honour of taking home the gold.

In the end however, it would be Bishop Anstey Junior School and Dunross Preparatory School who would close the season as the League’s top performers. While Bishop Anstey Junior School placed first in the Club, Junior Female and Junior Male categories, Dunross Preparatory School topped the League’s Senior Female and Senior Male categories.

While the last day of competition took place on June 16, the League will be brought to formal conclusion with a closing ceremony which is scheduled to take place in September of this year.
