Port of Spain, Trinidad, November 29, 2017: Republic Bank launched the final year of Phase III of its Power to Make a Difference programme on November 23 (Thanksgiving Day) at the Bank’s Head Office, Port of Spain. Twenty-six (26) Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Community-based Organisations, were on hand to receive their customary gift-shaped boxes representing the Bank’s investment to their causes. The third phase of this programme commenced in 2013, embracing the five year period up to 2018. In recommitting to the cause of sustainable social development, the programme will once again focus on literacy.

Speaking on the Launch’s theme, “Giving Thanks”, the Bank’s Managing Director, Nigel Baptiste, commended the charities for giving yeoman service to the people of Trinidad and Tobago through their causes, and welcomed the new charities on board.

“I say thank you to both groups, for leading the charge for a better nation and for accepting Republic Bank as an ally in the pursuit of this better tomorrow for so many of our brothers and sisters in need,” Baptiste said, while calling on other corporate bodies, to embrace corporate social responsibility as a key element of corporate business practices.

The fact remains that there is an inexorable drive within our national community do more in support of our brothers and sisters. We have seen it at work for years and we are pledged to making sure that drive never fades away,” Lee said.

Entertainment for the event was provided by Republic Bank staffer, Christopher Aird, who rendered a Josh Groban’s classic entitled, “Thankful” and The Republic Bank RightStart Next Step Programme winners, Jade Jones, Sherise Lutchman and Ealisa Espinoza, who executed an amazing rendition of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston’s “Believe”.
