Republic Bank steps in to assist in reading sessions

About the programme

The annual International Children’s Book Day Project 2017, commenced on February 11 and runs for 12 weeks. The theme for this year’s project is , “I am the World” and is held at the CREDO Foundation for Justice on Nelson Street, Port of Spain. Sponsored by Republic Bank Limited, the project falls under the Bank’s social investment programme, the Power to Make a Difference and is aimed at children from the communities of Morvant, Dibe, Port of Spain and Laventille. The literacy sessions include; Reading Aloud for Audience, Reading around the world, Family reading Night and International Children Book Day Spelling Bee. These activities are thematically and theatrically set using skilled reading instructors in an attempt to provide avenues for high impact learning and appreciation for reading beyond the classroom. The project continues every Saturday at the Nelson Street location and concludes with a closing ceremony on April 29 at YMCA, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain.
