Republic Bank Wins Four International Awards

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad: March 26, 2018: Proving that the finance sector is one area where developing countries like Trinidad and Tobago have the ability to punch above their weight, Republic Bank, has been awarded with four international banking awards.

Beating out competition from across the world, the Bank has earned the 2018 awards for Best Commercial Bank and Best Innovation in Retail Banking from International Banker Magazine. They were also recognised as the 2017 Bank of the Year by Latin Finance Magazine and 2017’s Best Bank by Global Finance Magazine.

The award judges noted the Bank’s commitment to customer service, their digital strategy and omni-channel approach to customer interaction and the success of their corporate social responsibility initiatives under their Power to Make A Difference Programme as key influencing factors in their decision to grant the awards.

In a recent interview with International Banker Magazine, Michelle Palmer-Keizer, Republic Bank’s General Manager, Group Marketing and Communications, shed some light on the secrets behind the Bank’s success.

She describes the Bank’s digital strategy as “primarily driven by a desire to improve the ease and speed with which our customers can reach us.” She added “Digital technology has played a significant role in ensuring that our communication with our customers is open, reliable and consistent. It allows us to not only provide them with relevant and timely financial information and services but also interact with them on a personal level.”

She also explained that the Bank’s Power to Make A Difference Programme is driven by the “incredible enthusiasm, commitment and talent” of the Bank’s staff. She credited the Programme, which to date, has improved the lives of thousands of individuals, for giving the Bank the ability to “reach out and be part of our customers' lives in more than a financial way.”

It is hoped that the recognition of these recent awards and the emphasis that they placed on both technological innovation and corporate social responsibility will encourage other corporate leaders to channel their time and resources towards these areas, as well, for the betterment of our local communities.
