Tobago snatches Talent Spectacular title from the Spice Isle

Port of Spain, Trinidad, June 6 2019:The spirit of the 90s was alive at the Republic Bank Staff Sports Club, on May 25, at Republic Bank’s staff talent competition, Talent Spectacular.

Fourteen of the Bank’s fiercest talent, hailing from branches and units from Trinidad and Tobago and the Bank’s four (4) subsidiaries, took to the Talent Spectacular stage in hopes of snatching the title from Team Grenada of Republic Bank (Grenada) Limited.

In the end, it was the team from Tobago who snatched the first place trophy from the Spice Isle. Headlined by vocalist, Shunica Moses who belted out hits, such as Lou Bega’s Mambo Number 5 and Haddaway’s What Is Love, Team Tobago took guests on a musical journey back to the 90s through song, dance and fashion which earned them a total of 260 points. Team Tobago also won the prizes for Most Supportive Crew and People’s Choice.

Not to be outdone, Team Grenada took second place with their theatrical production of “Our Culture Back in the 90s” which told the story of the Caribbean folklore character, the La Diablesse.

Third place went to vocalist, Dario Gonzales of Tragarete Road Branch who delivered a striking performance of The Circle of Life from the movie, the Lion King. Brandon Edgehill of ITMD – End User & Production Support copped the fourth place performing Peabo Bryson’s Can You Stop the Rain while Gabrielle Farley’s Lauren Hill medley LDC won her fifth place.

The show kicked off with the melodious sounds of Rhea Turpin and Denicia Hosang of the Long Circular Mall Branch who set the bar with their rendition of Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle’s A Whole New World from the movie Alladin.

American girl group, TLC also made a special appearance, well, the trini version at least – JRC, comprising Park Street Branch’s Rhonez Maurice, Cherisse Thomas and Josanne Callender who sang No Scrubs.

Musical accompaniment was provided by the A Team who also entertained the crowd with a range of 90s hits. Guests also enjoyed music by DJ Arelon the Artman.
