Young Footballers Honoured At Prize-Giving Function

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, September 19, 2012: "The only place you have control over is the present, so set goals for yourself and remember there are no shortcuts to the pathway of success." These words of advice were shared with the participants of the Republic Bank RightStart Cup Youth Football Tournament on Saturday September 15, at the prize giving function held at the Bank's Head Office in Port-of-Spain.

The tournament, which commenced in Tobago on July 11, concluded at Casuals Corner, Queen's Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, on August 5.

Script-writer and television producer Sigmond Cromwell, who delivered the features address, encouraged the young footballers to believe in themselves while setting goals for the future.

"You are champions, so focus on your goals, set them and go for them," he said.

Delivering remarks on the Bank’s behalf, General Manager, Planning and Financial Control, Robert Le Hunte, congratulated the footballers on their eagerness and determination to succeed.

"I am certain that it was a challenging task, as you came up against your opponents in the last leg of the competition, but I must compliment each one of you for the skills and attributes displayed on the playing field," he said.

He added that the Bank created the tournament, in an attempt to provide to young and aspiring athletes, with an avenue through which they could pursue their passion for the game of football.

Also speaking at the prize-giving was Events Manager, All Sports Promotion Limited, Richard Piper.

The Bank takes this opportunity to thank all the teams who participated in the Tournament and wishes them success in their football endeavours.
