May 25, 2021, Port of Spain – Republic Bank has once again partnered with AMCHAM T&T to host the Tech Hub Islands Summit (THIS) – an annual tech conference that brings together businesses, industry leaders, tech entrepreneurs and visionaries to develop and promote Trinidad and Tobago's tech ecosystem.

Addressing members at the virtual media launch held on May 25, 2021, Executive Director, Derwin Howell, spoke about just how virtual our new reality has become, and that we should embrace it sooner rather than later.

"Our goal should be rapid national implementation with cross-sector collaboration. No consumer, business or government agency should be left behind due to hesitation, lack of resources or lack of knowledge. And most importantly, virtual switchover should not be seen as a chore, but a valued amenity, even a national necessity," Howell said.

Howell also commended local SMEs who have transitioned their operations to navigate the digital landscape and pledged the Bank's support to continue working with them.

The Tech Hub Islands Summit will be held from July 5-7, 2021 and is aptly themed "Now & Beyond”.

On the Industry side, AMCHAM believes that Tech is a major pillar of a diversified economy. It is also a critical component in creating high-value and exciting jobs that encourage our young people to stay in Trinidad and Tobago even as they work and play in the global value chain.
