Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, January 30, 2018: Republic Bank‘s Curlissa ‘Soca Lissa’ Charles defended her title, for the second consecutive time, at the Bank’s annual Calypso Ruction competition, held at their Barataria sports club, on Friday night (January 26).
Charles, who is attached to the Bank’s High Street branch, wowed the judges with her Social Commentary piece, entitled “We Rightful Place”, which focused on the Bank’s initiative to improve service to their customers, while “painting the town back to blue”. Charles also walked away with the Best Banking Tune and People’s Choice awards.
Second place went to first-time entrant, Steven Gill, from the Bank’s Learning and Talent Development Centre. Gill also took home the titles of Best Rookie and Most Humorous with his song, “D Vices”. Lyndsey Hay, who is attached to the Bank’s Trust Services Division, claimed the third place trophy with her Calypso entitled, “Freedom”. Her energetic tune, also won her Best Road March.
The prize for Best Social Commentary went to Jeri-Mia Antoine, from the Bank’s UWI St. Augustine Branch.
