Republic Bank hosts Pre-SEA Parenting Workshop for staff

Port of Spain, Trinidad, Monday November 12, 2018: Republic Bank’s Human Resources Department, hosted its sixth annual Pre-SEA Parenting Workshop for staff and their children on Saturday, November 3. The Bank, having recognised that preparations to write the SEA examination can be very stressful for parents and their children, partnered with Elder Associates Limited, to host the workshop, which provided the necessary guidance and counsel to both parents and students.

Motivational Speaker and trained Mediator, J. Errol Lewis, commenced the day’s proceedings with a memorable address to both parents and students. He spoke about the power of manifesting positivity in their thoughts, lives and in those they choose to call friends. He encouraged students to be mindful of the company they keep as it plays a determining factor in their life’s path.

Following the address, the group then broke apart for individual sessions. The students were treated to an interactive Yoga demonstration with co-founder of Akasha Studio, Jacqueline Quesnel. The class was tailored towards teaching them stress relieving breathing techniques and exercises. Simultaneously, the parents participated in a session, conducted by Alecia Surijlal, Senior Dietitian at the Port of Spain General Hospital. It covered a host of topics, including healthy eating, lifestyle changes and non-communicable diseases.

The day concluded with an informational session by Linda Gunpath and Keshan Latchman both of Elder Associates. The duo reiterated the importance of effective stress management and familial support in aiding the students’ development and progression throughout the challenging times ahead.
