Republic Bank Remains Closed On July 24

Port of Spain, Trinidad, July 23, 2020– Following today’s virtual media conference hosted by the Ministry of Health, Republic Bank wishes to advise that its West Mall Branch will remain closed on July 24.

As confirmed by the Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, the child of a staff member at Republic Bank’s West Mall Branch has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently being treated at the Caura Hospital. The Bank confirms that the child and parent visited the branch on July 10, and on July 22, the child tested positive. The risk to clients continues to be low as it was confirmed that neither the child nor the parent was in contact with the branch’s client base.

Under the guidance of the Ministry of Health, the Bank has activated the required infection control measures, including the identification, testing and recommended quarantine of all staff members who were in contact with the child. The 2-day closure will allow for thorough sanitisation of the premises.

Republic Bank will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Health and the relevant authorities to ensure that there is no risk to staff and clients. The previously implemented in-branch safety protocols will remain in effect.

Republic Bank apologises for any inconvenience that this temporary closure may cause and encourages clients to continue following the assigned health protocols of the Ministry of Health.
