Republic Cup National Youth Football League on Hiatus until 2027

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, January 9, 2026 – Republic Bank has announced that the Republic Cup National Youth Football League will not take place in 2026.

This decision follows a strategic review by its organizing committee and key stakeholders. Taking this time to pause and synchronize efforts in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association, will ensure that the event continues to deliver the highest standards of competition and community engagement while complementing the broader sporting calendar.

The Bank will continue, however, to host its All-Star weekend, to ensure that our youth footballers have the opportunity to be scouted for international training development and exposure.

According to Preston George, General Manager, Group Marketing & Communications, “While the fulsome energy of the 2026 season will be missed, the Bank is shifting its full focus to a landmark year in 2027, with the Republic Cup National Youth Football League 2027 marking its 30th Anniversary. This milestone edition will be a celebration of the Cup’s rich history and a bold step into its next chapter, featuring a revitalized experience for grassroots athletes and fans alike.”

Republic Bank wishes to thank in advance, our stakeholders, participants, and the sporting community for their ongoing support and understanding during this planning phase as we forge forward together for a greater and better Republic Cup experience.
