From Bonus Points to Cash Back!

 

Credit Card Rewards just got more convenient!

From May 2020, rewards earned on your Credit Card will be in the form of Cash Back. This means:

  • Rewards are credited directly to your credit card every three months!
    No need to wait for certificates to be mailed to you!
  • Use your rewards anywhere you use your credit card!
    Purchase your groceries; pay your bills and more!
  • No expiration dates!

What are Cash Back Rewards?

Cash Back Rewards are rewards that are earned when you use your Republic Bank Credit Card. These rewards are in the form of funds that are credited directly to your credit card account every three (3) months.

How do I earn Cash Back Rewards?

Cash Back Rewards will be earned in the same manner the Bonus Points were earned, for every TT$50.00/US$15.00 spent using your Republic Bank Credit Card, TT$0.40 is earned.

When will I receive my Cash Back Rewards?

Cash Back Rewards will be credited to your credit card account every three (3) months, i.e. March, June, September and December. You will receive your first Cash Back Reward in June 2020. If your account is 3 months in arrears (no payment made) Cash Back Rewards will not be awarded.

Will I continue to get Bonus Points certificates?

The last issuance of Bonus Points certificates was for the quarter ended February 2020. From June 2020, the Bonus Points will be replaced by Cash Back Rewards .

What will happen to my existing Bonus Points certificates?
All certificates will continue to be valid at the specified merchants until the expiry date.
Is there a limit to the amount of Cash Back Rewards I can earn?

There is no limit to the amount of Cash Back Rewards you can earn.

Is there a restriction in how I use my Cash Back Rewards?

Cash Back Rewards become part of your available balance and can be used at any merchant both locally and internationally.

Will the Cash Back Rewards have an expiry date?

There is no expiry date for the Cash Back Rewards.

Will ALL Republic Bank Credit Cards now earn Cash Back Rewards?

Only accounts that previously earned Bonus Points will earn Cash Back Rewards. Republic Bank/Advantage Credit Cards that earn American Airlines miles will not be affected by the new Cash Back Rewards Programme and will continue to earn miles.

If I convert my current Cash Back credit card to an AAdvantage Miles credit card, will I still receive the Cash Back Rewards for purchases made on my previous credit card?

Cash Back Rewards earned on previous transactions will be credited to your new AAdvantage Miles Credit Card as a onetime credit. Thereafter, you will earn miles on your AAdvantage Card.

How can I determine the value of Cash Back Rewards earned?

Your Cash Back Rewards value will be displayed as “Cash Back Rewards” on your credit card statements for March, June, September and December.

How do I query my Cash Back Rewards value?

You can visit any one of our branches or contact our 24-hour Customer Care & Support Centre at 625-4411 (Ext 29911) or 627-3348.

Will I receive Cash Back Rewards for returned transactions on my credit card?

Cash Back Rewards will not be earned on returned transactions.
i) If a transaction is returned, the Cash Back Rewards value will be reduced from the total Cash Back Rewards earned for the quarter.
ii) If the returned transactions exceed the value of purchases made for quarter, this will result in a negative Cash Back value. Therefore, Cash Back Rewards will not be issued for that quarter. The negative Cash Back Reward will be carried over to the next quarter, reducing the total Cash Back Rewards earned.

My Bonus Points Certificate is less than the minimum redemption of 50 points, will I be able to redeem my certificate?

The redemption terms and conditions remain unchanged. Therefore, Bonus Points certificates valued less than 50 points cannot be redeemed.

Will I be able to convert my valid Bonus Point Certificates to Cash Back Rewards?

Valid Bonus Points Certificates will continue to be redeemable until the expiry date but cannot be converted to Cash Back Rewards.

I have a Republic Bank / TSTT International Credit Card. Will I now receive Cash Back Rewards and TSTT points?

Yes, TSTT points remain unaffected. You will receive Cash Back Rewards as well as TSTT points.

I have no outstanding balance on my account. Will I still receive Cash Back Rewards?

Once you have used your credit card for purchases during the period, you will receive Cash Back Rewards even if you have no outstanding balance. Cash Back Rewards are calculated based onpurchases during the quarter. If you have no outstanding balance, your account will be placed into credit upon receipt of your Cash Back Rewards, however this will not increase your credit card limit.

If I upgrade or replace my card, will I still receive the Cash Back Rewards for purchases made on my previous card?

Cash Back Rewards will be credited to the new or replaced card(s).

If I decide to close my credit card account, will I receive Cash Back Rewards for the purchases made during period that my credit card was valid?

Cash Back Rewards can only be applied to active credit card accounts.
