10,000 New Customers Get Onboard with Republic Bank through RepublicOnboard Digital Service

Port of Spain, Trinidad, November 15, 2024: In recognition of growing customer confidence in digital banking and as a demonstration of banking technologies facilitating greater financial inclusion for citizens, Republic Bank has announced that over 10,000 new customers have successfully opened accounts at Republic Bank via its innovative RepublicOnboard platform. Publicly launched in January 2024, RepublicOnboard, a key initiative within the Bank’s broader digital strategy, is the Bank’s digital platform that allows new customers to the Bank the ability to open accounts from anywhere online with ease, offering a quick, seamless and secure experience.

Guided by its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and its commitment as a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Banking to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, Republic Bank has embarked on a drive to review and innovate its processes for a more sustainable approach to doing business. This includes utilising digital technologies that offer opportunities for reduced environmental waste while simultaneously improving the convenience and accessibility of banking services to ensure that all segments of society are able to benefit from the financial services system. The achievement of onboarding 10,000+ new customers is a significant milestone that reflects the Bank’s commitment to customer service, digital transformation, sustainable operations and the promotion of financial inclusion in Trinidad and Tobago.

Highlighting the social significance of the achievement, Nigel Baptiste, President and Managing Director of Republic Bank remarked, “For us RepublicOnboard is more than a digital banking offering, it’s a solution to many of the barriers that might hinder financial inclusion. New customers enjoy greater ease of doing business with the ability to open a new account with us from anywhere, at any time. Location does not matter, and therefore, new clients based in remote areas of Trinidad and Tobago or with demanding schedules can especially enjoy the enhanced convenience of not having to visit a branch in person to open an account. Inclusion is further bolstered by the fact that RepublicOnboard is a low-cost solution since the account being opened is free of all charges once transactions are conducted via our online channels.”

Baptiste concluded “Reaching this 10,000 customer milestone with RepublicOnboard signifies that we’re heading in the right direction of leveraging digital innovation for increased convenience and accessibility for our customers. For us at Republic, our ultimate goal is to empower our customers to confidently navigate the future of banking with us.”
