Primary and Secondary School Students shine at the Republic Bank National Water Polo Leagues’ Closing Ceremony

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, June 26, 2024: On June 22, 2024, student players within the local water polo fraternity gathered with supporters for the closing ceremony of the Republic Bank National Secondary School and National Primary School Mini Polo Leagues. Held at St. Mary’s College, Port of Spain, the award ceremony was hosted by Republic Bank under its Power To Make A Difference programme in partnership with the tournaments’ founder and administrator, the Royhil Seals Water Polo Club.

Bishop Anstey High School, Port of Spain (senior female category) and Fatima College (senior male category) claimed first place as the reigning champions of the Republic Bank National Secondary School Water Polo League. In the junior category of the Republic Bank National Primary School Mini Polo League, St. Monica’s Preparatory School and Dunross Preparatory School triumphed as the winners of the female and male categories respectively. Dunross Preparatory School also took the win for the seniors in the primary school league for both male and female categories.

There were approximately 158 secondary school students and 77 primary school students who participated in the league overall. Preston George, General Manager, Group Marketing and Communications delivered the remarks congratulating all the participating teams and acknowledged the extraordinary display of talent witnessed over the course of the season. He further emphasized that this sport requires consistent training to improve technique and speed and as such, accordingly teaches the players the necessary discipline to succeed in all aspects of their lives.

Republic Bank continues to support physical, social and emotional development of youth through sport under their Power to Make A Difference programme as the Bank aims to provide young people with the Power to Succeed.
